Q. What Covid measures are in place in the Library?

The Government has now confirmed that England will end all legal Covid restrictions from Thursday 24 February 2022 and free mass testing will stop from 1 April 2022.

The focus is now on personal responsibility and making considered individual choices. As a University we will continue to operate in line with Government guidelines and with the health and safety of our staff and students at the centre of our decisions.

Self-Isolation

From Thursday 24 February the legal requirement to self-isolate if testing positive for Covid will end. This includes those identified as a close contact of someone testing positive regardless of vaccination status. Everyone is encouraged to remain at home for at least five full days if they do test positive.

Lateral Flow Tests

Under the Government guidelines twice weekly testing is no longer required with immediate effect. Free community testing will end on 1 April. We encourage everyone to continue making use of lateral flow tests as we know they are beneficial in helping to identify possible infections.

Mandatory face coverings

Wearing masks is a personal choice and we support all staff and students who wish to continue wearing them. The Library will have a small supply of face masks and visors for library users who arrive without their own.

Covid vaccination

The Government is urging all adults to ensure they are fully vaccinated against Covid. This remains an important aspect of helping to manage the impacts of this virus. If you are not fully vaccinated you can book a vaccination appointment through the NHS. If you have any Covid vaccinations outstanding please arrange an appointment.

Social distancing

While Government guidelines do not require social distancing, we encourage you to be respectful of staff and students who may wish to continue to observe this practice.
