Q. VLeBooks reservations


Some of our ebooks have a restricted number of licences.  When you try to access an ebook and “read online”, if all licences are already in use you will be given the option the reserve the ebook.

 

To do this:

Enter your University email in the email address and click 'Reserve'. 


 

When it becomes available to access you will sent an email that looks like this:


 

You have 1 hour to claim access once you have received the email. 

There is no link to the ebook in the reservation email so you will need to go back to your reading list or the library catalogue and access the ebook as normal.  You should then see this screen:


 

Please note that all VLE ebooks time out after two hours of inactivity. 

If an ebook is in heavy demand, and you are accessing your “reservation”,  you could also print/copy some pages you need and save these to your device - these will then be accessible to you regardless of how many users are in the ebook. The number of copy/print pages is restricted by the publisher (it is usually one chapter or 10% of the total amount of pages) and varies for each ebook.
